Kayrat Ischanov and Alexey Sergeev: today is the culmination of our work

Today, polling stations are open across Tajikistan and in 27 international locations. IPA CIS observers are on the ground to monitor the course of the elections.

Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Alexey Sergeev said that the team of 35 IPA CIS observers was deployed in Tajikistan to monitor the course of the elections. This number includes 25 observers stationed in Doushanbe and elsewhere in Tajikistan and 10 observers are based at various international locations.

Team Leader Kayrat Ischanov, who is also Vice Speaker of the Kazakh Senate, noted that this day marked the culminating point of the Team’s work. After the closing of the polling stations, we will have a review meeting and will announce our findings the next day, 7 November.

There are six contenders in the presidential race, including the incumbent President Emomali Rahmonov.
