Tajikistan elects a President

Polling stations opened at 6 a.m. and will close at 8 p.m. today local time, as Tajikistan elects its President. The presidential tenure is set at seven years. IPA CIS international observers witnessed the opening of the polling stations, sealing of polling boxes and met some early voters.

According to NCEC, the elections are being monitored by over six thousand local observers and over 500 international observers.
