Meeting of the discussion club on the promotion of civic engagement of young voters in Bălți

Yesterday the Chisinau branch of the IIMDD IPA CIS hosted the meeting of the discussion club Promotion of Civic Engagement of Young Voters. Students of Alecu Russo State University of Bălți, representatives of authorities and NGOs attended the meeting. 

In his opening remarks, Eugeniu Stirbu, Director of IIMDD Chisinau branch, noted that modern society needs educated, honest and savvy people capable of taking autonomous responsible decisions to make the right choice. We ought to make youth engagement socially positive addressing both the issues of raising people open to humanitarian values and train future professionals capable of becoming decent citizens and patriots of their homeland.

The meeting also discussed need to improve youth voting participation and prevent electoral absenteeism through social surveys and analyses and featured a presentation based on the book Promotion of Civic Engagement of Young Voters published by IIMDD Chisinau. The book is available at www.iimdd.md.

Using the opportunity, on 29 March 2016 Eugeniu Stirbu and Rector of Alecu Russo State University of Bălți signed a cooperation agreement on developing joint programs and projects and the exchange of information, practices and resources.
