Press conference of the CIS Observer Mission took place in Chisinau

A press conference of the CIS International Observer Mission on the outcomes of monitoring of the elections to the Parliament to the Republic of Moldova of the 21st legislature and the republican consultative referendum, which took place last Sunday, took place in Chisinau. According to the observers, the elections were held in accordance with the law, in an open, competitive and transparent manner.

The observers particularly noted professional work of the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Moldova in the preparation and hosting of the elections. In total, 2143 voting stations were established, including 123 foreign stations. “The elections were hosted in accordance with the Constitution, the Electoral Code and the effective legislation. The Central Election Commission and other bodies ensured the implementation of the citizens’ right for a free will expression” state the observers’ conclusions presented by head of the mission, First Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Viktor Guminsky.

CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Observer Team Coordinator, Deputy Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bektas Beknazarov noted that in general the assessment of the elections by the IPA CIS monitoring group corresponds with the conclusions of the mission members. According to the coordinator, the outcomes of the monitoring group presented in the outcome document, were unanimously adopted and signed off by all IPA CIS observers, including representatives of the Azerbaijan Republic, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan.
