The mission of the CIS observers recognized that the parliamentary election in Azerbaijan was free, transparent and competitive

The Mission of the CIS observers held a press conference in the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

According to Sergey Lebedev, 147 observers attended 1070 election stations of the total number of 5,500. ‘We could not attend all the ballot stations, but we have exchanged opinions with voters; obviously not only we but also the voters have not seen any violations’.

Coordinator of the IPA CIS observers Leonid Slutsky also noted that the parliamentary election in Azerbaijan had been free, transparent and competitive.

According to the information published by the Central election Commission of Azerbaijan, the ruling party New Azerbaijan got at least 68 parliamentary seats of 125.

The CIS Mission is composed of 147 observers from 8 countries. The group of international observers is a part of the Mission and includes 20 people. Among them members of parliaments of six CIS nations, experts, scientists, representatives of the International Institute for Monitoring Democratic and Parliamentary Process.
