CIS Economic Security Discussed in Tavricheskiy Palace

The meeting of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Economy took place in the Tavricheskiy Palace – the IPA CIS headquarters via videoconferencing.

The event brought together the MPs: Member of the Committee of the Milli Mejlis of the Azerbaijan Republic on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship, Doctor of Economic Sciences Rufat Guliyev and Member of the Committee of the Majlisi namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan on Energy, Industry, Construction and Communication, Doctor of Economic Sciences Rustam Rahmatzoda, as well as the academia and experts, representatives of the institutes of economy of national academies of sciences, leading relevant universities of the Commonwealth countries, the CIS Executive Committee, other organizations and agencies.

The meeting was presided by Chairman of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Economy, Rector of St. Petersburg State University of Economics Igor Maksimtsev.

IPA CIS Council Secretary General Dmitriy Kobitskiy addressed the Board members with a welcome speech. He noted that even in the circumstances of the coronavirus pandemic the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Economy met almost in its full membership and expressed hope for the fruitful discussion of the opportunities for strengthening and developing the economies of the Commonwealth countries, addressing present challenges of the integration process across the CIS.

Advisor of the Institute of Research and Expertise of Vnesheconombank, Corresponding Member of the NAS of Ukraine Valery Muntiyan made a report on “Main Aspects of Ensuring Economic Security of Commonwealth States” and addressed the most relevant challenges and risks to the economic security.

Head of the research project “Institutes of Modern Economy and Innovative Development” of the Institute of Economy of the RAS, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Economic Sciences Andrey Gorodetskiy shared his views of the prospects for development and security in post-crisis and post-pandemic world.

Director of the department of economic cooperation of the CIS Executive Committee Igor Ilingin briefed the participants of the meeting on the main provisions of the CIS Long-Term Economic Strategy until 2030.

The Strategy mentions such key challenges as intensification of trade protectionism, imbalances of the multilateral trading system, tightening of the global financial environment and the resulting debt burden both in private and public sectors.

Professor of the Department of Economic and Financial Investigations of the Graduate School of Public Audit of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, Doctor of Economic Sciences Aleksandr Molchanov spoke about ensuring economic security during the “rational integration” of the post-Soviet space. He told that the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Economy could provide a platform for developing necessary legal framework, which would contribute to changing the economic structure of the CIS countries essential for integration.

Professor of the Department of Financial Management and Financial Law of the Moscow City Government University of Management, Honored Economist of the Russian Federation, Candidate of Economic Sciences Vladimir Alekseev and Head of the Department of the Management of Quality of Human Capital of the Corporative Energy University, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Members of the Bureau of the Russian Academy of  Natural Sciences Anatoliy Talalaev reported on the “Management of Antropogenic Risks as an Instrument of Human Capital Management Within the Framework of the CIS Economic Security”.

Director of the Belarusian Institute of System Analysis and Information Support for Scientific and Technical Sphere Viktor Grishchuk spoke about the scientific and technological forecasting as a factor of economic security based on the example of his Institute.

Head of the Department of International Economy of the Alyshbayev Institute of Economcy of the NAS of the Kyrgyz Republic Azyk Orozonova and Head of the Center of System Analyses of the Belarusian State Economic University, Candidate of Economic Sciences Tatiana Sadovskaia briefed the participants on the issues of economic security in their respective countries.
