CIS MPs Approved Draft Recommendations on Countering Foreign Interference in Elections

On 22 September 2022, a meeting of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Practices of State-Building and Local Government, presided by Chair of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on State Building, Local Government and Regulations Valentin Semenyako, took place. The meeting was attended by MPs from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, the Commission members adopted four draft model laws: Recommendations on Countering Foreign Interference in National Elections, Recommendations on the Use of Technical Means of Automation in Elections and Referenda, Recommendations for the CIS International Observers (revised), as well as the Model Law on International Observation for Elections and Referenda.

All documents are planned to be submitted for consideration by the IPA CIS Council.
