CIS MPs and Experts Discussed Issues of Urban Development

On 22 October 2021, the Conference “The Image of a Modern City” took place in Peterhof. The event was timed to the Year of Architecture and Urban Development in the CIS.

The event was co-organized by the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Practices of State-Building and Local Government and the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Agrarian Policy, Natural Resources and Ecology with the participation of the Youth Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The conference was attended by representatives of the CIS parliaments, the CIS Executive Committee, associations of local governments, regional and local authorities, educational and research institutions, public organizations and the business community.

The Conference included reports on effective solutions for the preservation of historical centers, cultural heritage sites, achievements in planning and functionality, the impact of the digital environment on creating comfortable living conditions in the city. The experts discussed the development of the transport system as an integral part of the image of a modern city, the resources of historical territories and other issues.

In conclusion, the recommendations addressed to the IPA CIS, legislative and executive authorities of the Commonwealth countries were developed.
