Parliamentarians and experts from CIS countries familiarized themselves with the operations of the “Armenia Wine” agro-industrial complex located in the village of Sasunik in the Aragatsotn region, which is known for its vineyards.
The plant processes up to 10,000 tonnes of grapes annually and employs 270 people.
Members of the Commission discussed with the company’s management the specifics of the enterprise’s operations as well as rural development in Armenia.
The Commission members also visited the “Standard Dialog” Testing Laboratory in Yerevan. The laboratory for testing food raw materials and food products was established and accredited in 2009. It conducts physico-chemical and microbiological analyses. Particular attention is paid to detecting falsification of food raw materials and non-food products, including textile goods.
Since 2010, the laboratory has been conducting research to identify transgenic ingredients, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), genetically modified microorganisms (GMMs), and their analogues in food products.
During the meeting with parliamentarians, the company’s management emphasized that the laboratory operates in accordance with international standards, including environmental protection requirements and safe waste disposal. Information was also presented on cooperation with relevant institutions of CIS countries.
Yesterday, the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Agrarian Policy, Natural Resources and Ecology held a meeting at the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and met with Vice President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Ruben Rubinyan.
