Development of Model Law on Medical Supplies in CIS Member Nations Started in Minsk

On 30 June, the first international conference in the format of a public expert session “Efficiency and Availability of Medicines: from Technologies and Evidence Base to Patient” on the development of the Model Law on Medical Supplies in the CIS Member Nations was held in Minsk.

Greetings to the conference participants were sent by Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy, Deputy Speaker of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Daniya Espayeva and Chair of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Public Health, RAS academician Yury Shcherbuk.

Deputy Chair of the Commission on Development of the Principles of Bioethics and Evidence-Based Medicine of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Public Health, Director of the Eurasian Cooperation on Clinical Guidelines and Development of National Health Sergey Savashinsky opened the conference.

During the strategic session, the conference participants were briefed on the main provisions of the draft Model Law on Medical Supplies in the CIS Member Nations, which is being developed in accordance with the Long-Term Plan of Model Law-Making of the CIS for 2023-2025.

Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights, Executive Secretary of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Public Health Evgenia Vladimirova, Professor of the Law Faculty of the St. Petersburg State University, Member of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Public Health Nelli Diveeva, Advisor of the Department for Humanitarian Cooperation, General Political and Social Problems of the CIS Executive Committee Elena Shamal, Chair of the Commission on Development of the Principles of Bioethics and Evidence-Based Medicine of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Public Health, Head of the Department of Endocrinology of the Belarusian Medical Academy of Post-Graduate Education Larisa Danilova made reports at the conference.

The conference was attended by representatives of the CIS parliaments, relevant ministries and departments, national academies of sciences, international organizations, medical organizations, insurance and pharmaceutical companies, patient communities and professional nongovernmental organizations, as well as members of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Public Health and International Expert Academic Working Group on Development of National Evidence Base in Public Health, Bioethics and Biosafety of the CIS Member Nations.

The next expert session meetings are scheduled for November 2023 in Kyrgyzstan, the second quarter of 2024 on Kazakhstan and the fourth quarter of 2024 in Uzbekistan.
