Experts Discussed Development of Principles of Bioethics and Evidence-Based Medicine in CIS

Today, a working meeting of the Commission on Development of the Principles of Bioethics and Evidence-Based Medicine of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Public Health was held in Minsk.

Chair of the Commission, Head of the Department of Endocrinology of the Belarusian Medical Academy of Post-Graduate Education Larisa Danilova opened the meeting.

Formation of organizational and legal mechanisms of the International Expert Academic Working Group on Development of National Evidence Base in Public Health, Bioethics and Biosafety of the CIS Member Nations was considered at the meeting.

The meeting participants were briefed on the main provisions of the draft Model Law on Medical Supplies in the CIS Member Nations, which is being developed in accordance with the Long-Term Plan of Model Law-Making of the CIS for 2023-2025.

The commission members identified common approaches to the development of methodological recommendations for conducting preclinical and clinical trials, assessment of healthcare and healthcare management technologies, as well as assessment of healthcare delivery in the CIS Member Nations.

Deputy Chair of the Commission, Director of the Eurasian Cooperation on Clinical Guidelines and Development of National Health Sergey Savashinsky drew attention to the possibilities of joint activities of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Public Health and the International Expert Academic Working Group on Development of National Evidence Base in Public Health, Bioethics and Biosafety of the CIS Member Nations with the CIS national statistical structures to develop registers of patients with various diseases. 

Member of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights, Member of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Public Health, Member of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on Environment, Natural Resources and Chernobyl Catastrophe Tamara Dolgoshei addressed the meeting.

The meeting was attended by current members of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Public Health, representatives of the CIS Executive Committee, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Russian Academy of Sciences and the international organization Eurasian Cooperation on Clinical Guidelines and Development of National Health.

The next meeting of the Commission is scheduled to take place in Bishkek, the Kyrgyz Republic, in November 2023.
