Harmonization of Legislation in Field of Security and Countering New Challenges and Threats Discussed in Tavricheskiy Palace

Today, a regular meeting of the Joint Commission at the IPA CIS for the Harmonization of National Laws Related to Security, Countering Emerging Threats and Challenges took place in the Tavricheskiy Palace – the IPA CIS headquarters.

The event brought together members of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Defense and Security Issues, representatives of the CIS statutory and sectoral cooperation bodies, public authorities of the CIS Member Nations, as well as educational and scientific institutions and international organizations. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Issues of Nationalities Ruslan Balbek.

The participants considered the draft Model Law on National Security developed by the Department of Legal Support of National Security of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), as well as the draft Recommendations on Integration of the Norms of International Humanitarian Law into the Framework Documents of the Armed Forces, the System of Military Professional Education and Military Training (Troops) of the CIS Member Nations developed by the regional delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Russia, Belarus and Moldova.

Both drafts were submitted to the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Defense and Security Issues for consideration and further submission to the parliaments of the CIS Member Nations for expert opinions.
