Preparation of Recommendations for Municipalities on Implementation of State Environmental Policy has Begun

The IPA CIS Permanent Commissions on Practices of State-Building and Local Government and Agrarian Policy, Natural Resources and Ecology held a seminar on “Special Features of Implementing State Environmental Policy at the Local Level”. The result of the event, held on 24 May in Zelenogorsk, was the adoption of recommendations addressed to legislators, local authorities and the IPA CIS.

Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy sent a greeting to the seminar participants, which was presented by Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Plenipotentiary Representative of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Bakhtovar Safarzoda.

The best practices of local authorities of the CIS countries were presented at the seminar. First Deputy Head of the Administration of the Kurortny District of St. Petersburg Sergey Alexeev told the audience about environmental projects implemented in Zelenogorsk.

The experience of the municipality of Zelenogorsk was presented by its Head Dmitry Chechin.

Another topic was the development by local authorities of ecotourism in specially protected areas: its current state and prospects.

The experts discussed the responsibility of local authorities for implementing environmental policy at the local level, financial support for the implementation of the environmental policy by municipalities, as well as regional management of sustainable development of territories in the environmental cluster.
