Meeting of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Political Issues and International Cooperation in the IPA CIS headquarters

Members of the Commission led by Chairman of the Committee of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan on International Issues, Defense and Security Muhtar Erman discussed the draft provisions on observer status at the IPA CIS and the request of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly on granting of the observer status. The participants of the meeting unanimously approved the request to the IPA CIS Council to support the APA’s request to acquire the observer status in the IPA CIS.

Another subject on the agenda was the concept and program of the conference on combating international terrorism to take place in April 2019 in St. Petersburg co-organized by IPA CIS, PACE, OSCE PA, PAM, Inter-Parliamentary Union and CSTO PA.

Deputy Chairman of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Political Issues and International Cooperation, Chairman of the Committee of the Majlisi namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic Tajikistan Olim Salimzoda presented a report on the impact of military and political situation in the North-East of Afghanistan on the security in the Central Asia.

The members of the commission also discussed the necessary measures to elaborate concrete mechanisms of the coordination of the CIS delegations, participating in the activities of international organizations.

Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat, Director of the International Institute of Monitoring Democracy, Parliamentarism and Suffrage for the IPA CIS Member Nations Dmitry Gladei presented a report on the outcomes of the IPA CIS observer mission at the Presidential elections in the Azerbaijan Republic.
