Problems and prospects of CIS participation in international parliamentary organizations were discussed in the Tavricheskiy Palace

Meeting of the IPA CIS PC on Political Issues and International Cooperation took place in the IPA CIS HQ.

The event brought together MPs from the Azerbaijan Republic, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrghyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan, who actively participate in the activities of the commission.

The meeting began with the taking action on organizational issues. Mukhtar Yerman was re-elected for a new term as Chairman of the commission on the proposal of the Secretary General, Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Dmitriy Kobitskiy. Chair of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on Foreign Relations Ruben Rubinyan and Chair of the Committee of the Federation Council of the RF Federal Assembly on Foreign Affairs Konstantin Kosachev were appointed as his deputies. Then the members of the commission summed up their work in 2018 and discussed the results of the Conference on Countering International Terrorism.

One of the key issues on the meeting’s agenda was the cooperation with partner international organizations. In particular, members of the commission summed up the results of international parliamentary organizations sessions (the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the Inter-Parliamentary Union).
