Eurasian Women’s Forum to Bring Together Representatives From Almost 100 Countries

A meeting of the Organising Committee of the Fourth Eurasian Women’s Forum was held in Moscow. The event was chaired by Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko.

St. Petersburg will host the Forum for the fourth time on 18–20 September 2024. One of the venues of the event will be the Tavricheskiy Palace – the IPA CIS headquarters, which, along with the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, is the organiser of the Forum.

Opening the meeting, Valentina Matvienko said that delegations from almost 100 countries had confirmed their participation in the Forum and that the list of participants was constantly being updated. She stressed that the upcoming Forum in September is one of the most notable events of international life, unique both in terms of the number of participants and the scope of the agenda.

“It is the Eurasian Women’s Forum that makes it possible to convey to the whole world the solidary, constructive position of the global women’s community. The EWF is invariably distinguished by the spirit of mutual respect and partnership, and the Forum has been supported by Russian President Vladimir Putin since its very first year, which gives the events a special, high status,” the Speaker of the Federation Council said.

The Senator recalled that the main theme of the Forum “Women for strengthening trust and global cooperation” would be discussed within five thematic platforms:

  • Women in Shaping a New Agenda for Peace and Trust;
  • Women in the New Economic Reality: New Technology and Innovation;
  • Women for the Health and Well-Being of Society;
  • Women for Tradition and Cultural Diversity;
  • Environmental Platform.

One of the days of the Forum will be fully dedicated to cooperation with the BRICS countries. The programme includes the BRICS Women’s Forum, a meeting of the BRICS Ministers for Women’s Affairs, a presentation of the BRICS Women’s Environmental Projects Competition, and a meeting of the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance, the Federation Council reports.

Chair of the Federation Council’s Eurasian Women’s Forum Council (EWF Council), Deputy Chair of the Organising Committee of the Fourth EWF Galina Karelova presented the concept of the Forum programme.

The meeting was attended by senators, representatives of ministries, departments and executive authorities.
