Heads of parliamentary delegations summed up the IPA CIS spring session

The press-conference on the results of IPA CIS spring session took place in the Tavricheskiy Palace. It was attended by Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko, Speakerof the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Shukurjon Zukhurov and Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nigmatilla Yuldashev.

According to Valentina Matvienko, the session was fruitful. In particular, the IPA CIS Council Chairperson stressed the importance of joint activities on model law-making.

Regarding the IIMDD IPA CIS activities, Valentina Matvienko noted the professionalism and competence of the IPA CIS observers. She also reported that the IPA CIS had already received an invitation from the Republic of Kazakhstan to observe the upcoming presidential elections.

Valentina Matvienko focused on relevant issues in the field of youth policy. She reported on the Youth Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member Nations (YIPA CIS) activities and the implementation of humanitarian projects and exchanges under its auspices.

Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan recognized the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly as the most important driver of further cooperation development among the CIS countries.

Speaker of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Shukurjon Zukhurov noted that recommendatory legislative acts adopted by the IPA CIS in the field of defense and security will be taken into account in the draft act on countering extremism being developed in the republic.

Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nigmatilla Yuldashev spoke about the roadmap developed to increase the efficiency of Uzbekistan’s participation in the IPA CIS activities.
