Member of the IPA CIS Council Sergey Naryshkin opened the III Eurasian Youth Convent on Innovations

The opening session of the III Eurasian Youth Convent on Innovations took place at the Legislative Assembly of Leningradskaya Oblast. Member of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the State Douma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin opened the Convent.

Member of the National Assembly of Belarus, Coordinator of the Young IPA CIS Insessa Kleschuk, IPA CIS Council Secretary General Alexey Sergeev, Member of the YIPA CIS, Member of the Chamber of Young Legislators at the Federation Council Marina Grigoryeva attended the Convent, together with representatives from 18 countries including experts from the CIS.

The Convent will focus on the relevant issues of youth cooperation in the framework of Eurasian integration processes, current threats and innovative solutions in international and domestic security, prospects of research cooperation among the members of the Eurasian Economic Union.

The participants noted that the modern society needs a new development driver. The "Eurasian dimension" can become such a driver – a foundation for building new relations among governments.

In her speech, Inessa Kleschuk introduced the role of the YIPA CIS as a venue for active involvement of youth in politics and law-making. She added that the following model documents were drafted on the initiative of the YIPA CIS:

·        Cooperation among Young Researchers of the CIS;

·        Student Volunteer Teams;

·        Recommendations on Setting and Promoting Standard Requirements for Policies in the Field of Initial Prevention of Social Risks Among Youth.

The YIPA CIS Coordinator added that the YIPA CIS is currently working on a number of proposals submitted earlier. The Young Assembly will take actions on these proposals at the upcoming meeting of the YIPA CIS on 19 May.
