Valentina Matvienko: "For centuries literature liberated, united and called for cooperation"

The Year of Literature is officially in St Petersburg. Alexandrinskiy theater staged pieces of Russia’s best playwrights. The inauguration was attended by the Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council – Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko, the Governor of St Petersburg Georgiy Poltavchenko and the Speaker of the municipal legislative assembly Viacheslav Makarov who read out the welcoming address from the Speaker of the State Douma Sergey Naryshkin.
