Valentina Matvienko hosted the 45th Plenary Session of the IPA CIS

Speakers of the Parliaments and Heads of the parliamentary delegations of the Commonwealth, participants and guests of the 45th Plenary Session of the IPA CIS met in the Dumsky Hall of the Tavricheskiy Palace.

Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko opened the meeting.

The event was attended by the parliamentary delegations of:

-         the Azerbaijan Republic headed by the Speaker of Mili Mejlis Ogtay Asadov;

-         the Republic of Armenia headed by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Hermine Nagdalyan;

-         the Republic of Belarus headed by the Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Mikhail Myasnikovitch;

-         the Republic of Kazakhstan headed by the Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev and the Speaker of the Majilis of the Parliament Nurlan Nigmatulin;

-         the Kyrgyz Republic headed by the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Chynybai Tursunbekov;

-         the Republic of Moldova headed by the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Vladimir Vityuk;

-         the Russian Federation headed by the Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko;

-         the Republic of Tajikistan headed by the Speaker of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli Shukurjon Zukhurov.

The event was also attended by the Chairman of the Executive Committee – the CIS Executive Secretary Sergey Lebedev.

The agenda of the session included 18 items, with a particular focus on the issues related to the education sector in the CIS, as well as on social issues. The participants also discussed the issues related to culture and security areas.

In addition, on the sidelines of the session Valentina Matvienko met with the President of the Senate of Belgium Christine Defraigne and Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, PABSEC President Maja Gojkovich.
