Valentina Matvienko: "Inteparliamentary cooperation is an important driver of Russian-Tajik relations development"

On 25 October, the Plenary Session of the VI Inter-parliamentary Forum “Russia and Tajikistan: Potential for Interregional Cooperation” took place in the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon sent their welcome messages to the participants.

Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko stressed that Russia and Tajikistan are engaged in a permanent political dialogue.

The IPA CIS Council Chairperson also noted that the forum discussed issues of economic cooperation, humanitarian ties and migration. The outcomes will be reflected in the final document.

Member of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Makhmadsaid Ubaidulloev noted that at the present stage interparliamentary cooperation is becoming one of the most important drivers of intergovernmental cooperation related to regional integration issues.
