Valentina Matvienko reported to the CIS Heads of State on the work of the IPA CIS

Today, CIS leaders gathered in Minsk for a regular Summit. The Summit reviewed the activities of the IPA CIS and heard the report of the IPA CIS Chairperson Valentina Matvienko.

She noted that IPA CIS was an essential instrument of legal support for the follow-up on the decisions if the CIS Heads of State and Heads of Government. It was also an important platform for dialogue. She stressed the need for the support of the CIS leaders in internalizing the model legislation drafted by the IPA CIS into national laws. She also dwelled on the the election observation operations of the IPA CIS. We plan to expand out international outreach, including for the purposes of raising public awareness. International contacts are a channel for exploring best practices and share experience while promoting the positions of the Commonwealth in the world, she said.
