Valentina Matvienko: "Role and importance of interparliamentary relations in the development of interparliamentary relations has increased significantly"

Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko met with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during her official visit to Turkmenistan. They discussed issues related to interparliamentary cooperation including at international parliamentary platforms.

During her stay in Turkmenistan, Valentina Matvienko also met with President of the Republic of Moldova Igor Dodon.

As part of the visit, Valentina Matvienko took part in the opening ceremony of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games ("Asian Games-2017"). These are the first continental sports competition in the history of the country. The Games are held in 21 sport disciplines. Athletes from 45 Asian countries and from 19 countries of Oceania, as well as a combined refugee team, are taking part in the Games.

Valentina Matvienko was awarded with the title “Honorary citizen of the city of Ashgabat”.
