Valentina Matvienko: "The role of women enhances both at the national level and globally"

In an interview, Valentina Matvienko, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, emphasized that the role of women is enhancing both at the national level and globally. “The Eurasian Women’s Forum carried out by the Federation Council and the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly is a powerful argument to prove this message. The Forum took place in autumn 2015 in St. Petersburg. It convened representatives from more than 80 countries. The Forum became a clear manifestation of women’s will to stand against the challenges of global security and international cooperation”.

The IPA CIS Council Chairperson also underscored the importance of women’s involvement in peace and humanitarian activities as well as in international events. “We are ready to support these efforts through interparliamentary diplomacy”.
