Dmitriy Kobitskiy Held Meeting with Republic of Sri Lanka Delegation

A meeting between IPA CIS Council Secretary General Dmitriy Kobitskiy and a delegation from the Republic of Sri Lanka took place at the headquarters of the IPA CIS, the Tavricheskiy Palace.
The delegation included Minister of Transport, Roads and Urban Development and Leader of the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Bimal Niroshan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation Shobini Gunasekera, Honorary Consul of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in the Northwestern Federal District of the Russian Federation Vagram Zakharyan.
The Secretary General briefed the guests on the history and key activities of the organisation, including model law‑making, international election observation, and the organisation and hosting of major international events.
The parties also discussed the possibility of the Sri Lankan Parliament being granted observer status with the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly. The regulations governing this status will be sent to the delegates for review.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Plenipotentiary Representative of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Hyak Chilingaryan, Head of the Expert and Analytical Department of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Denis Zhuk, Head of the Department for International Relations, Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Political Affairs and International Cooperation Maksimillian Selyutin.
