Experts Approved IPA CIS Proposals in Field of Humanitarian Cooperation

On 28 January 2022, a meeting of the expert group was held to agree on the draft Plan of Priority Actions in the Field of Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member Nations for 2023–2024 and the draft Decision of the Council of the CIS Heads of Government on this issue.

On behalf of the Secretariat of the Council of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, the meeting of the expert group was attended via videoconference by Head of the Department of Parliamentary Cooperation Yulia Ilyina, Head of the Model Law-Making Support Department Sergey Belousov and Advisor to the Model Law-Making Support Department, Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Culture, Information, Tourism and Sport Igor Minin.

During the meeting, the experts agreed on all the proposals of the IPA CIS on holding events in the field of humanitarian cooperation in 2023-2024, including the events scheduled for 2023, which is declared the CIS Year of the Russian Language as a Language of International Communication.

In particular, in 2023-2024 it is expected to continue holding such traditional events as Nevsky International Ecological Congress, St. Petersburg International Labor Forum, International Cultural and Educational Forum “Children of the Commonwealth”, other forums and congress events.

In addition, the plan provides for activities in the field of science, education, culture and mass communications, book publishing, sports, tourism, youth cooperation and healthcare. A number of model laws and other documents in the field of humanitarian cooperation are expected to be developed in order to harmonize the legislation of the Commonwealth countries.
