Experts Discussed Events in Sphere of Humanitarian Co-operation of CIS Countries

On 15 December, a meeting of the expert group was held to coordinate the drafts of the Plan of Priority Measures in the Field of Humanitarian Cooperation among CIS Member Nations for 2025-2026 and decisions of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs and the Council of CIS Heads of Government on this issue.

The event was attended by representatives of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, the CIS Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation and the CIS Executive Committee.

The work of the CIS Expert Group via videoconference was attended by Head of the Parliamentary Cooperation Department Yulia Ilyina, Deputy Head of the Directorate of Parliamentary Cooperation – Head of the Delegations Liaison Department Margarita Safarova, Head of the Model Law-making Department Tatyana Baranova and Advisor to the Model Law-Making Support Department, Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Culture, Information, Tourism and Sport Igor Minin.

During the meeting the experts listened the IPA CIS proposals on holding events in the field of humanitarian cooperation in the period of 2025-2026, including the events of 2025, which was declared as the Year of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and unity in the fight against Nazism in the Commonwealth.

It is planned to hold the traditional Nevsky International Ecological Congress, the International Cultural and Educational Forum of the CIS countries “Children of the Commonwealth” and other events.

In order to bring the legislation of the Commonwealth Member Nations closer, it is planned to develop a number of model legislative acts and other documents in the sphere of tourism, migration processes, health care and humanitarian cooperation.

Following the results of the meeting, the participants decided to send the materials of the Expert Group meeting to the CIS countries for further elaboration of the draft Plan and to hold an additional meeting in March 2024.
