IPA CIS Council Secretary General met with President of Central American Parliament

On 14 June 2022, Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy met with President of the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN) Guillermo Daniel Ortega Reyes at theTavricheskiy Palace.

The parties discussed ways to strengthen relations in a variety of areas, including within the framework of the Cooperation Agreement on Information Exchange signed in 1999. Ortega Reyes expressed deep interest in the IPA CIS activities related to the drafting of model legislation in the field of information security and countering cybercrime.

The PARLACEN President officially requested to consider the possibility of granting the PARLACEN an observer status at the IPA CIS.

The parties also discussed the development of a new association ‘EURASIALAT’ that would increase opportunities for dialogue between Central and South American parliamentarians and their colleagues from the CIS.
