Young People and Experts United to Discuss Sustainable Development of Eurasian Space

The issues of multilateral diplomacy, the development of the Arctic region, culture and cooperation in the CIS countries were discussed at the Eurasian Youth Forum dedicated to “Sustainable Development of the Eurasian Space through the Eyes of the Youth.” The event was organized by the North-West Institute of Management of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (NWIM RANEPA).

Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy sent greetings to the Forum participants and noted that the involvement of young people in the work to strengthen multilateral partnership, international peace and harmony was an important factor for the development of integration processes in the Eurasian space.

The IPA CIS pays great attention to the issues of international youth cooperation. The Youth Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member Nations (YIPA CIS) ensures the practical participation of young parliamentarians in legislative work and decision-making affecting the rights and interests of youth.

The next meeting of the YIPA CIS will be held this March and will be dedicated to the Year of the Russian Language as the Language of Interethnic Communication in the CIS.

Deputy Head of the Directorate of Parliamentary Cooperation – Head of the Department for Relations with Delegations, YIPA CIS Executive Secretary Margarita Safarova told the participants about the IPA CIS projects aimed at developing cooperation and friendship among young representatives of the CIS countries: the International Cultural and Educational Forum “Children of the Commonwealth”, initiated by Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic and supported by the Assembly. Schoolchildren from the CIS countries familiarize with the culture and traditions of the countries of the region, study the history of the Commonwealth and discuss prospects for cooperation in various fields.  

The Forum was attended by Secretary of the Joint Commission at the IPA CIS for the Harmonization of National Laws Related to Security, Countering Emerging Threats and Challenges Stanislav Korostelev representatives of the RANEPA, the Youth Parliament under the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the Council of Young Diplomats of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia and experts from the CIS countries.
