Alexey Sergeev shared the plans of the IPA CIS for 2017 with journalists

During the interview to the Vmeste-RF TV channel Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Alexey Sergeev told journalists about the IPA CIS working plan for 2017.

“On 27 March 2017 we will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Alma-Ata Agreement which established the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly. At the meeting this May, the IPA CIS Council adopted a working plan dedicated to this important date”, said Alexey Sergeev.

He informed journalists that the central anniversary events would be held in St. Petersburg, in the Tavrichesky Palace. On 27 March the extended meeting of the IPA CIS Council will take place and expected to bring together honorary guests: chairpersons of the IPA CIS Council, secretaries general of the IPA CIS Council, members and former chairpersons of IPA CIS permanent commissions, as well as former and current MPs, experts and Secretariat staff members.

The planned anniversary events also include the Parliamentary Conference on Combating International Terrorism. “We hope that the conference will give an impulse to step up anti-terrorist efforts of parliamentarians of the CIS countries”, said Alexey Sergeev.

He also mentioned that the current efforts were focused on a new film and photo exhibition dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the IPA CIS, and anniversary editions of the magazines Newsletter of the Interparliamentary Assembly and Dialogue: Politics, Law, Economics.
