CIS experts discussed the action plan for the implementation of the Concept of coordinated social and demographic policy of the CIS member States

The CIS Executive Committee held an additional meeting of the expert group to agree on the draft action plan for the implementation of the Concept of coordinated social and demographic policy of the CIS member States for 2019-2023.

The meeting brought together MPs, experts, representatives of the scientific community of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrghyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, as well as the CIS Executive Committee staff members. IPA CIS Board of Experts on Public Health Executive Secretary, Secretary of the IPA CIS PC on Social Policy and Human Rights Evgenia Vladimirova attended the meeting in the format of video-conferencing.

Deputy Director Department for Humanitarian Cooperation, political and social problems of the CIS Executive Committee Razmik Khumarian opened the meeting and addressed the participants.

Deputy Director of Research of the State Department “The Republican Scientific and Practical Center of Medical Technologies, Informatization, Management and Economics of Public Health” of the Republic of Belarus Irina Malakhova led the meeting.

The meeting participants adopted the agenda and rules of procedure. Also during the meeting, the comments and proposals requested to the draft Action Plan from the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kyrghyz Republic were discussed.

The draft incorporates eight sections providing for measures in the social and labor sphere, the field of social protection of the population, healthcare, demography, ecology, migration, creating an enabling socio-cultural environment. This draft document also sets out obligations to improve the treaty and legal framework for cooperation in the social and demographic spheres and development national legislation on social and demographic policy, according to the provisions of the Concept, hosting scientific and practical conferences, consultations and meetings.

The Concept of coordinated social and demographic policy of the CIS Member Nations was established to create a comprehensive mechanism of protection population of the CIS citizen’s social rights, combining economic, political, legal, administrative tools and allowing minimizing human rights violations. In 2011, it was approved by the Council of the CIS Heads of Government.
