Conference on nuclear security in the Tavricheskiy Palace

Today, the Tavricheskiy Palace is hosting an international conference Nuclear Security in the Modern World. Role of Parliamentarians in the Process of Nuclear Disarmament and Non-Proliferation organized by the IPA CIS and the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Conference brought together parliamentarians from across the CIS, representatives on international parliamentary organizations, political leaders and commentators to discuss nuclear security, prevention against illegal production and trafficking of nuclear weapons and its means of delivery. Special attention was given to the role of parliamentarians in establishing adequate controls over nuclear materials, and implementation of effective international export control measures. The Conference was presided by the Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko.
