St. Petersburg Hosts 31st Session of CIS Intergovernmental Council on Hydrometeorology

On 8–9 October 2019 the 31st session of the CIS Intergovernmental Council on Hydrometeorology took place in the Expoforum Convention and Exhibition Centre in St. Petersburg. The session took place within the framework of the events related to the 185th anniversary of the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring of the Russian Federation.

The session focused on the activities of the national hydrometeorology services and their interaction within the CIS and the World Meteorological Organization. The participants discussed the implementation of the Agreement on the Intergovernmental Hydrometeorological Network of the Commonwealth, the CIS Strategy for Development of Hydrometeorological Activities and the Action Plan on its implementation for 2021-2025.

Besides, the Council members discussed the implementation of the Research Priorities for the CIS National Hydrometeorology Services for 2016-2020, the functioning of the North EurAsia Regional Climate Centre, the capacity building and training, the participation in the activities of the Group on Earth Observations, as well as got acquainted with the information on the regional center of the Integrated Global Observing System of the World Meteorological Organization.

Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Agrarian Policy, Natural Resources and Ecology Natalia Amburtseva represented the IPA CIS at the event.
