Tavricheskiy Palace Hosts Ceremonial Reception on Occasion of Independence Day of Uzbekistan

A ceremonial reception on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Uzbekistan celebrated on 1 September took place in the Tavricheskiy Palace – the IPA CIS headquarters.

Acting Consul General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in St. Petersburg Zafar Abdurakhmanov opened the event. Secretary General – Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Dmitriy Kobitskiy congratulated the people of Uzbekistan on the 28th anniversary of the Independence, stressed the importance of the active participation of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the law-making and other activities of the organization.

Dmitriy Kobitskiy noted that according to the established principle of the assignment of leadership over the IPA CIS permanent commissions to the national parliamentary delegations, the IPA CIS Council proposed to the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan to preside over the Permanent Commission on Culture, Information, Tourism and Sport. The parliament of Uzbekistan has already nominated the candidate for the post of Chair of the Commission, which is to be approved at the upcoming meeting of the Council.

Chairman of the Committee on External Relations of St. Petersburg Evgeniy Grigoriev delivered the welcome address of Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov, , and First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on External Relations of the Leningrad region Inna Bigotskaia delivered the message of Governor of the Leningrad region Alexander Drozdenko.

The event was also attended by Deputy Secretaries General of the IPA CIS Council: Plenipotentiary Representative of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Ayk Chilingaryan, Plenipotentiary Representative of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Kogut, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurbek Satvaldiev, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Ibod Rakhimov, Deputy Head of the Representative office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in St. Petersburg Oleg Konovalov, representatives of general public and business community of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
