X Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean kicked off in Tirana

The IPA CIS delegation led by Deputy Secretary General – Representative of Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Ibod Rakhimov joined the Session on the invitation of the PAM Secretary General.

On the previous day, the IPA CIS delegation met with Secretary General of the PAM Amb. Sergio Piazzi. The parties discussed the interaction between the two Assemblies in different areas and their outlook for further formal entrenchment of the IPA CIS and PAM cooperation.

On 18 February - the main day of the X Anniversary PAM Plenary - the IPA CIS delegation passed the official invitation letter to attend the IPA CIS Plenary on 19-20 May, signed by the Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko, to Lhou Lmarbouh - the PAM President. The IPA CIS delegation also brought to the attention of the PAM President the MoU between the two Assemblies drafted by the IPA CIS Secretariat and shared with him the intent expressed by V. Matvienko that this MoU should be signed by the Presidents of the Assemblies at one the forthcoming IPA CIS plenaries. The PAM President supported this idea and confirmed that the MoU could be signed as early as during the next fall session of the IPA CIS.

Also, in the margins of the PAM session the IPA CIS delegation seized the opportunity to meet with Mahmoud Erol Kilic, PUIC Secretary General, and the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic led by the President of the Syrian People's Assembly MHD Jihad AL Lahham.
