Yuriy Osipov met with Head of the ICRC Regional Delegation for Russian Federation, Belarus and Moldova Magne Barth

Within the preparation of the international conference, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the St. Petersburg Declaration Renouncing the Use, in Time of War, of Certain Explosive Projectiles, a meeting of IPA CIS Council Secretary General Yuriy Osipov met with Head of the ICRC Regional Delegation for Russian Federation, Belarus and Moldova Magne Barth. The meeting took place in the IPA CIS headquarters in the Tavricheskiy Palace.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Alexey Dolzhikov, Head of the Expert and Analytical Directorate of the IPA CIS Council Denis Zhuk, and ICRC Regional Legal Adviser for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Anastasia Kushleiko.

Yuriy Osipov emphasized the importance of the upcoming event on 30 November: “The Conference serves as a proof of long-standing cooperation of the IPA CIS and the ICRC. We are pleased to welcome President of the ICRC Peter Maurer to join the Conference. We take full ownership in in dealing with the issues related to its preparation”.

Magne Barth noted: “The cooperation with your organization is of high importance for the ICRC not only in the Russian Federation, but also in the CIS space. Looking back, we appreciate the role of the IPA CIS in promotion of norms of humanitarian law in the Commonwealth. We commend the IPA CIS activities in the field of model law-making in this area”.
