Heads of Parliamentary Delegations Drew Outcomes of IPA CIS Autumn Session

Today, a briefing of the heads of parliamentary delegations of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly summed up the results of the events took place in the Tavricheskiy Palace on 25-26 November 2021.

Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko commended the agenda and high organizational and substantial level of the events.

Within the autumn session, the international conference “Universal Health Coverage and Sustainable Development Goals” was held the day before, co-organized by the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly and the Regional Office for Europe of the World Health Organization. The Conference adopted a final document, while the 53rd IPA CIS plenary session held today issued a joint statement by the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, Vienna Regional Office of the International organization for Migration and the Regional Office for Europe of the World Health Organization “Legislative Support for Labor Migration During the Pandemic”.

According to the Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, the plenary session approved 11 model laws regulating different areas. Valentina Matvienko drew attention to the fact that each IPA CIS session was a good opportunity for bilateral contacts. “We held many bilateral meetings and exchanged plans for the development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation,” she said.

The Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council spoke about the results of monitoring of the recent election campaigns and noted that at that moment the IPA CIS international observers worked at the parliamentary elections in the Kyrgyz Republic, scheduled on 28 November.

Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Kochanova recognized the IPA CIS as “an excellent platform for discussing topical issues”, which provided an opportunity to voice the positions, exchange experiences, share opinions.

Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbaev paid special attention to the model law-making and the great intellectual preliminary work. He also recalled that next year the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly would celebrate its 30th anniversary, and the meeting of the IPA CIS Council dedicated to this event would be held on 28-29 March 2022 in Almaty.

Chair of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Agrarian Policy, Natural Resources and Ecology, Chair of the Permanent Committee of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova on Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea spoke about the plans of the Moldovan delegation within the framework of the Assembly and reaffirmed his conviction that cooperation between the IPA CIS countries continue to be as fruitful in the future, and would open new horizons for interaction between the countries. He announced that the next meeting of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Agrarian Policy, Natural Resources and Ecology will be held on 11-13 May 2022 in Chisinau.
