MPs Discussed Issues of Bilateral Cooperation in Framework of IPA CIS Autumn Session

On 26 November 2021, the bilateral meetings of the MPs and representatives of international organizations continued in the Tavricheskiy Palace – the IPA CIS headquarters within the framework of the IPA CIS autumn session.

Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko met with Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev. The meeting was attended by Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy. During the meeting, Valentina Matvienko noted the active and remarkable work of Kazakhstani parliamentarians at the IPA CIS. She also stressed the growing interest in the Assembly’s activities and the increasing role of the IPA CIS parliaments at the international level. The Speaker of the Federation Council thanked Maulen Ashimbaev for the offer to hold a solemn jubilee meeting of the IPA CIS Council, timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Assembly in Almaty. In turn, Maulen Ashimbaev called the IPA CIS a well-known and respected platform for the development of inter-parliamentary dialogue. He also appreciated the activities of Valentina Matvienko as Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council and congratulated her on re-election to this position.

Maulen Ashimbayev and Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva, during the bilateral meeting, confirmed the interest of their countries in continuing and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation. According to the Speakers, the countries had many common problems: the situation around the Aral Sea region, the development of rural areas, the improvement of local self-government bodies, etc. Tanzila Narbaeva supported the idea of strengthening cooperation between the countries in all areas, highlighting interaction in ensuring gender equality. The parties confirmed their commitment to all joint initiatives and expressed their intention to do everything possible so that relations between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan become a model example of effective interaction.

Head of the delegation of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova to the IPA CIS, Chair of the Standing Committee of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova on Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea met with Chair of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on International Affairs Grigory Karasin. The parties discussed topical issues of Russian-Moldovan cooperation, the need for its progressive development in a constructive and mutually beneficial manner. Grigory Karasin also welcomed the participation of the Republic of Moldova in the activities of the IPA CIS. In his turn, Vladimir Bolea noted that the Republic of Moldova was interested in building mutually beneficial cooperation with the Russian Federation and with the CIS Member Nations in general.
