Second International Youth Parliamentary School Kicked Off at Tavricheskiy Palace

On 29 November, the Second International Youth Parliamentary School kicked off at the headquarters of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly. It brought together the students from the Commonwealth countries, who had taken part in Third International Student Internet Competition “Electoral Systems of the Countries of the World”..

Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat – IPA CIS IIMDD Director, Doctor of Law, Professor Ivan Mushket made a speech at the opening of the School. He spoke about the role of youth parliamentarism and international youth cooperation developed by the IPA CIS. Vice-Rector for International Affairs and Internationalization of Herzen State Pedagogical University, Candidate of Law Dmitry Mereshkin greeted the participants of the School. He stressed the importance of implementing youth projects aimed at improving the political culture. Dean of the Faculty of International Relations of St. Petersburg State University, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Irina Novikova pointed out the importance of joint work of students from the CIS countries. Head of the International Relations Department of Saratov State Law Academy, Director of the Non-Profit Partnership “Eurasia-Volga Region” Information and Analytical Center, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, head of the research program of the School Marina Lapenko also made a welcoming speech.

The School will focus on the standards of democratic elections in the CIS countries, international election and referendum observation, international politics in the age of digitalization, international parliamentary cooperation in the CIS and other issues.
