St. Petersburg to Host Third Eurasian Womens Forum

On 31 August, the progress of preparation for the Third Eurasian Women’s Forum was discussed at the meeting chaired by Vice Governor of St. Petersburg Oleg Ergashev in Smolny.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Elena Kuzina, Assistant to the IPA CIS Council Chairperson Lyudmila Kostkina, representatives of the Roscongress Foundation and the relevant committees of the city government.
It is expected that the Forum, which will be held in St. Petersburg on 13-15 October, will be attended by representatives of more than 70 countries and international organizations, such as the WHO, the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the World Bank, the ILO, the UNESCO, and the UNIDO. The event will also be attended by the heads of state and government, parliaments, famous public figures, representatives of science and culture.
Elena Kuzina noted that the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, which is the co-organizer of the Forum along with the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, has experience in holding major events, including during the period of pandemic restrictions.
The Eurasian Women’s Forum will be held at three venues. The Tavricheskiy Palace – the headquarters of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly – will host plenary sessions and main sessions. The IPA CIS Parliamentary Center will become a platform for exhibitions and discussions on the implementation of the national strategy in favour of women, the efficiency of small business development programs. The Multimedia Demonstration and Exhibition Complex “The Universe of Water” will provide the venue for the environmental activities.
