26th Independence Day of the Azerbaijan Republic

The Declaration on the State Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been adopted in the extraordinary session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan on 30August 1991 The historic session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, held on 18 October 1991, is known for the unanimous adoption of the Constitutional Act “On the State Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan”.

In May 1992, the Milli Majlis (Parliament) approved the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan (music by U. Hajibeyov, words by A. Jawad), which was followed by the adoption of the National Flag, and the National emblem depicting the eight-pointed star with flames.
