7th Forum of Russian and Belarusian Regions to be Held in Minsk

On 28 September 2020, the Seventh Forum of Russian and Belarusian Regions will begin its work in Minsk. The historical legacy of the Great Victory as the basis for the development of social, economic and spiritual ties between the peoples of Belarus and Russia will be the main topic of the event.

On the same day, within the framework of the forum, five sectoral sessions will be held via video-conferencing. The participants of the sessions will discuss the issues of preserving the historical heritage, fostering patriotism and civic liability, expanding joint efforts of Belarus and Russia to counter the glorification of Nazism on international platforms.

The 7th meeting of the Interparliamentary Commission of the Council of the Republic and the Federation Council on interregional cooperation and a joint meeting of the business councils of Belarus and Russia will also take place on 28 September.

On 29 September, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko and Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Kochanova will open the plenary session of the Seventh Forum of Russian and Belarusian Regions.

In addition, the program of the forum features the meeting of the heads of the upper chambers of the Belarusian and Russian parliaments with the heads of the regions of the Republic of Belarus and subjects of the Russian Federation, as well as the signing of several cooperation agreements.
