Azerbaijan Republic Celebrates Independence Restoration Day

Today Azerbaijan celebrates the anniversary of its independence. On 30 August 1991, the extraordinary session of the Supreme Council of the Azerbaijan Republic adopted the Declaration of State Independence of the Azerbaijan Republic. Then, on 18 October 1991 the historical session of the Supreme Council unanimously adopted Constitutional Act on the State Independence of the Azerbaijan Republic.
On 15 October 2021, a law established the Independence Day to be celebrated on 28 May – on this day in 1918, the state independence of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was proclaimed by the Declaration of Independence. The day of 18 October became the Day of the Restoration of Independence.
