Beginning of spring is celebrated in the Republic of Moldova

On 1 March, the Moldovans across the world celebrate one of their most favorite holidays –Mărțișor. Traditionally, on this day people give to each other small red and white strings with hanging tassel which are called mărțișors. They wear them pinned to their clothes until the last day of March, when people tie them to the trees.
