Belarus Celebrates Day of State Flag, State Emblem and National Anthem

On 12 April 2023, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed a Decree on National Holidays, Public Holidays and Commemorative Dates in the Republic of Belarus.

According to the Decree, the name of the holiday was changed from “The Day of the State Emblem of the Republic of Belarus and the State Flag of the Republic of Belarus - the second Sunday of May“ to ”The Day of the State Flag, the State Emblem and the National Anthem of the Republic of Belarus - the second Sunday of May”.

The new name will pay tribute to all three state symbols of Belarus.

The red stripe on the Belarusian flag symbolizes the courage of the people, the green one is the color of life and hope, forests and fields, the white stripe with an ornament is a symbol of purity and high spirituality.

The coat of arms represents the golden contour of the state border of Belarus, superimposed on the golden rays of the sun rising above the globe. There is a five-pointed red star at the top of the field. The coat of arms is framed by a wreath of golden ears intertwined with clover and flax flowers.

The national anthem of the Republic is performed on solemn occasions, the list of which is fixed in the legislation.
