Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asian States Takes Place

Today, the first meeting on the establishment of the Dialogue of Women Leaders of the Central Asian States took place via videoconferencing. The event was attended by representatives of five Central Asian states, heads of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia and the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS.
The meeting discussed the role of women in strengthening interstate cooperation in Central Asia, their participation in state and public affairs, assistance in transformations and implementation of reforms, including those carried out to ensure gender equality, protect the rights and interests of women.
The event was attended by Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, member of the IPA CIS Council Tanzila Narbaeva, Speaker of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Gulshat Mammedova, Deputy Speaker of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gulmira Isimbayeva, Vice-Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Elvira Surabaldiyeva and Chair of the Committee on Women and Family Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Hilolbi Kurbonzoda.
