Senate of Parliament of Republic of Kazakhstan Adopted Revised Environmental Code

Today, a meeting of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan headed by Speaker Maulen Ashimbayev adopted a revised version of the Environmental Code in two readings.

The provisions of the document provide for increased responsibility of industrial enterprises for environmental pollution. Now they must fully compensate for the caused environmental damage. They are also required to introduce advanced technologies in order to reduce emissions. It is expected that the new Environmental Code will create real incentives for enterprises to reduce emissions of pollutants and invest in environmental protection.
