Federation Council of Federal Assembly of Russian Federation Held 497th Meeting

On 27 January 2021, the 497th meeting of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation took place. During the event, the MPs presented reports of a number of committees and commissions in 2020 and also discussed key issues of current activities.
In particular, the Federation Council approved the Law on the Ratification of the Agreement on the Extension of the Treaty between the Russian Federation and the United States of America on Measures for the Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms of 8 April 2010 (START-3). Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko stated that the ratification of the treaty would be among the key events of 2021.
The Federation Council also approved amendments to the Forest Code and certain legislative acts of the Russian Federation in terms of improving the legal regulation of forest relations. In addition, amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses and the Family Code of the Russian Federation were approved.
According to the press service of the Federation Council, the senators also spoke on relevant social, economic and political issues.
