Emomali Rahmon Addressed Parliament of Republic of Tajikistan

On 26 January 2021, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon delivered a traditional annual message to the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, outlining the main directions of the foreign and domestic policy of the country for 2021.

At the beginning of the address, the President of Tajikistan raised the issue of the spread of the new coronavirus infection and the global crisis caused by it. At the same time, Emomali Rahmon spoke about the measures taken at the national level to support the healthcare system. Additional funds from the public budget of 1 billion 600 million somoni were used to purchase medicines and medical equipment, build temporary hospitals and support medical personnel.

In the context of the pandemic, the President also raised the issue of reducing the labor migration due to the borders closure. In this regard, Emomali Rahmon instructed to create additional jobs for the citizens who remained in the country.

In addition, the President of Tajikistan noted that in 2020, the government’s efforts were aimed at improving the social conditions of the country’s population: starting from 1 September, the pensions, wages of budgetary organizations and scholarships were increased.

Speaking about the further development of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon pointed out to the authorities the need to continue and step-up the activities to counter modern threats and crises, generate financial resources for the development and diversification of the economy, expand digitalization, support entrepreneurship and solve social problems, as well as prepare for the impact of climate change and the transition to a green economy.
