Implementation of Joint Projects of Union State Considered by Parliamentarians in Vitebsk

On 19 June, a meeting of the 64th session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia was held in Vitebsk. The MPs discussed the formation of a common transport system of the Union State.

The event was held by Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly, Speaker of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin and Speaker of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko.

Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Plenipotentiary Representative of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Kogut took part in the session on behalf of the IPA CIS.

During the “government hour”, the legislators heard information from the relevant ministers of both countries on the joint work of Belarus and Russia on the formation of a common transport system of the Union State.

Vyacheslav Volodin instructed to elaborate common standards for calculating tariffs for passenger transportation between Russia and Belarus. He also said that it is necessary to study the implementation of the project to build a high-speed railway from Moscow to Minsk.

The parliamentarians also discussed the budget, compulsory insurance of civil liability of owners of vehicles, preservation of memorials and military graves on the territory of Belarus and Russia.
